SYLIMAROL
Derivatives of milk thistle (Silybum marianum) have been used as herbal remedies for almost 2000 years. Their use has been widespread throughout Europe since preparations became officially available for clinical use there in 1969. At present milk thistle extracts account for over $180 million in sales annually in Germany(2), and natural remedies in general for $1.6 billion annually in the United States.(3) Sylimarin is a unique ingredient in Sylimarol. The flavonoid sylimarin and one of its structural components, silibinin, are substances with documented hepatoprotective properties.(1)

Milk Thistle is widely used to treat cirrrhosis, chronic liver disease, moderate alcohol-related liver disease. The flavonoids appear to be active as free radical scavengers and stabilizers of plasma membranes.(2)
For more serious conditions, such as mentioned above, daily dosage ranges from 280 to 800 mg. This is equivalent to 400 to 1140 mg of standarized extract containing 70% sylimarin(2)
NHP Ingredients Database Suggested dosage: Preparations equivalent to 140-600 mg sylimarin (calculated as silibinin/silybin), per day; not to exceed 200 mg per dose

SYLIMAROL comes in tablet’s strength of 50 mg of standarized extract containing 70% = 35mg of sylimarin. Advantage of such small dosage is that it can be used by healthy patients after eating heavy meals, drinking alkohol etc to help liver to clean itself from toxic substances contained in food.

Wast majority of sylimarin (milk thistle) products available on Candian market are coming in high dosages of 200 mg up to 600 mg (NHP database) There is only few products with small dosage as is in Sylimarol.
